Table Tennis Australia is affiliated with the National Coaching Accreditation Scheme (NCAS) which is run by the Australian Sports Commission. The NCAS ensures that all Coaches receive appropriate training and accreditation.

In order to be recognised by the NCAS, TTA and/or your local State / Territory Association all coaches must complete the appropriate NCAS course and the accompanying paperwork.

TOPS COACH (ENTRY LEVEL)

1. Complete NCAS TOPS Table Tennis Course (1 Day)

2. Achieve competency in all 3 Assessment Tools

  • Tool 1 - Session Planning - Written - In Course Assessment

  • Tool 2 - Basic Techniques & Multiball - Practical - In Course Assessment

  • Tool 3 - Coaching Session - Practical - In Course Assessment

 3. Be a participant or life member of TTA or a life member of an organisation

Level 1

1. Qualified as a NCAS TOPS Coach

2. Complete NCAS Level 1 Table Tennis Course (2 Days)

3. Competency in all 5 Assessment Tools;

  • Tool 1 - Coaching Principles - Pre or In Course or Post Course Assessment

  • Tool 2 - Session Planning - Post Course Assessment

  • Tool 3 - Practical Coaching - Sessions - Post Course Assessment

  • Tool 4 - Practical Coaching - Skill Techniques & Multiball - Post Course Assessment

  • Tool 5 - Written Exam - In Course Assessment

4. Coaching practise completed;

  • 10 hours supervised by an Accredited Level 2 or 3 Coach & documented

  • 20 hours additional coaching documented

5. Be a participant of life member of TTA or a life member of an affiliated organisation

Level 2

1. Qualified as a NCAS Level 1 Coach

2 .Complete NCAS Level 2 Table Tennis Course (5 Days)

3. Competency in all 6 Assessment Tools;

  • Tool 1 - Post Course Assessment - Self Reflection Report

  • Tool 2 - Post Course Assessment - Advanced Techniques & Multiball

  • Tool 3 - In Course Assessment - Advanced Session Planning

  • Tool 4 - In Course Assessment - Practical Coaching Session

  • Tool 5 - In Course Assessment - Inclusive Coaching

  • Tool 6 - In Course Assessment - Periodisation Planning 

4 . Coaching Practise completed;

  • 10 hours supervised by an Accredited Level 2 or 3 Coach & documented

  • 30 hours additional coaching documented

5. Be a participant or life member of TTA or a life member of an affiliated organisation

Level 3

1. Qualified as a NCAS Level 2 Coach

2. Complete NCAS Level 3 Table Tennis Course (6 Hours)

3. Complete and provide evidence of 5 requirements;

  • Mentor Report

  • Self Reflection Report

  • Provide written evidence of the implementation and review of a periodised plan

  • Provide written evidence of the effectiveness of the periodised plan including training plans, testimonial from players and the number of nationally ranked players

  • Provide evidence of completion of 4 units from the list of optional ASC Intermediate Coaching General Principles units below:

    • Nutrition for Sport / Anti-Doping in Sport / Basic Anatomy & Bio-mechanics / Sports Safety / Sport Psychology / Skill Acquisition

4. Coaching practise completed;

  • International coaching experience with National Teams during at least 1 event

  • Development coaching at National Training Camp for a minimum of 5 days

  • Development coaching of 10 hours under the supervision of an approved Mentor

5. Be a participant or life member of TTA or a life member of an affiliated organisation

Once you have completed the above criteria you must give your evidence to your State Director of Coaching for approval who will then pass them onto Table Tennis Australia for processing. You must forward a payment of $22 to the Table Tennis Western Australia office in order for your accreditation to be fully processed onto the NCAS database.
